Exposure

https://ontology.toxindex.com/v1/Exposure Exposure

The exposure a value applies to: the routes by which a substance enters the body, the time over which the value is averaged, how long the exposure lasts, and, for airborne particles, the particle size fraction measured. Every span of time is a quantity, so values from different sources are directly comparable.

Properties

Class properties with name, type, requirements, and description
NameTypeDescription
routesRouteEnum []The routes by which a substance enters the body that a value applies to. Absent where no route applies, such as external radiation.
averaging_timeQuantity The time over which a concentration is averaged when compared with a value: eight hours for a time-weighted average, fifteen minutes for a short-term limit. Zero for a ceiling, which applies at every instant. Absent when the unit already carries the averaging period, as a dose per day does.
min_durationQuantity The shortest exposure duration a value applies to. Set only from the source's own numeric definition, never inferred from a label.
max_durationQuantity The longest exposure duration a value applies to. Set only from the source's own numeric definition, never inferred from a label.
particle_cut_sizeQuantity For airborne particles, the aerodynamic diameter at which the sampled size fraction collects half of the particles: about 100 micrometres for the inhalable fraction, 10 for thoracic, 4 for respirable, and 2.5 or 10 for fine and coarse particulate matter. The size conventions are sampling curves; the cut size identifies the curve. Absent for total dust and for anything not airborne particles.
